I’m working on a postdoctoral research project titled 'Building the Portuguese Empire in the 19th century. Public Works across the Indian Ocean and China Sea (1869-1926)'.
Centered in the former provinces of East Portuguese Empire (Goa, Macau, Mozambique and Timor), this project intends to study the structure and activities of Public Works in each territory and reconstruct the networks established between them. Doing so it aims to understand how this institution has helped shape the built environment these different spaces in the nineteenth century colonial Portuguese encouraging their inter-influence.

I’m interested in approaching this theme between history of architecture and history of technology and in using digital methods of researching in the humanities. Also concerned with themes related to portuguese architecture and heritage of portuguese influence in general.

Since 2016 i'm editor of H-Portugal network and the coordinator of "The Arts and the Portuguese Expansion" research group.
