Call for Book proposals

CHAM holds a permanently-open call for book proposals that fall within the disciplinary fields and research themes currently addressed by the Centre. The submission of comparative, multidisciplinary, transnational, and/or cross-cultural studies is strongly encouraged.

Proposals can be sent to two series: Studies & Documents or CHAM E-Books Collections. Both welcome proposals from the national and international scientific community. Only original manuscripts (book/chapters) that have not previously been published and that are not currently being considered for publication elsewhere are eligible. Manuscripts must comply with CHAM’s Submission and Style Guidelines, and be either written in Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, and/or Italian. The preferred book length ranges from 45,000 to 100,000 words (including footnotes, appendices, images, attachments, and bibliography). CHAM researchers may be included in a publication as editors and/or authors, as long as they do not exceed 30% of the total number of contributors in each proposal.

After submission, proposals will be reviewed by CHAM’s publications and series directors regarding originality, relevance, methodological soundness, bibliographic pertinence, writing style, and relevance of its topic to the series' profile. Manuscripts deemed suitable will then be subjected to double-blind peer-review to assess their quality and scientific merit.

All publications will be available in open access in RUN - the Repository of the NOVA University of Lisbon, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The participation of CHAM researchers as editors and/or authors may not exceed 30% of the total number of collaborators in each proposal.
