Maria João da Câmara Andrade e Sousa holds a PhD in Archival History from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. She is a researcher at CHAM. She has been studying her family archive – the Archive of the House of Belmonte –since 1997. Maria João has interest interested on the following themes: Archival History, noble identity, memory and oral history, community archives,. She published several books and papers on themes like: archival practices, record production, conservation and retrieval in early modern archives. Lately, she has also write and publish biographies of some personalities within the Portuguese history and society.
