Roberta Stumpf is professor and Coordinator of Post-graduate Studies in the Department of History, Arts and Humanities at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (UAL) since September 2020. She is a researcher at the Centre for Research in Historical Sciences (CICH/UAL) and at the Centro de Humanidades (CHAM) of Universidade Nova de Lisboa where she did his post-doctoral studies and she was sub-director from 2015 to 2020. She has a Master in History (Universidade de São Paulo, 2001). She holds a PhD in History from the Universidade de Brasília, which was completed in 2009. Since 2014 to 2020, she taught at the Master's Degree in the History of Portuguese Expansion at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where she supervised theses on the Brazilian colonial period. Her research interests include the History of Portuguese América (17th and 18th centuries), the History of the Iberian Empires and Modern History. She has participated in several international projects (as researcher) in these areas funded by the European Union, FCT, CAPEs/Brazil, Casa de Velázquez and Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades de España. She has published several book chapters, articles in specialized Journals like Nuevos Mundos Mundos Nuevos, Revista Complutense de Historia de America, Les Cahiers de Framespa, Almanack, Topoi. Revista de História, Revista Espacio, Tiempo y Forma Historia Moderna. She has also published 2 monographic books and 3 co-organized: Cargos e ofícios nas monarquias ibéricas: provimento, controlo e venalidade (séculos XVII-XVIII). Lisboa, (2012); Salvador da Bahia. Interações entre América e África (sécs. XVI-XIX). Salvador/Lisboa (2017) and Monarquias Ibéricas em Perspectiva Comparada (sécs. XVI-XVIII). Dinâmicas imperiais e circulação de modelos político-administrativos. Lisboa (2018). She co-edited a collective book about the distances in the governance of Iberian empires in the Modern period, which is in press and will be published by Casa de Velázquez in 2021. She is also in the process of publishing a chapter that is part of a collective book in the University Cambrigde Press and an article that is part of a special issue already accepted in the journal Studia Historia, to come out in 2022. She is currently writing an entry on the administration and venality of office in the Iberian Americas for the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Latin American History.
