«José Cardoso Pires, 20 years later – Iberian and Ibero-American Dialogues. In memoriam Maria Lúcia Lepecki»
NOVA FCSH — ID Building Room Multiusos 2 (4th floor)

José Cardoso Pires (2/10/1925, São João do Peso – 26/10/1998, Lisbon) left marks on European and Ibero-American culture and literature. Many of his books sold out, were translated, and served as inspiration for films, influencing many other artists as well. As an irreverent citizen, his writing and vision of Portugal and of the world opposed a complimentary view, stressing an ironic and scathing tone – unlike anything that had ever been done in Portuguese Literature. This conference aims to pay homage to this Author 20 years after his death, celebrating José Cardoso Pires as one of the greatest in the literary art of the second half of the twentieth century.

In memoriam Maria Lúcia Lepecki, a scholar, essayist, writer, and researcher on Portuguese Literature, a pioneer engaged in the reading and dissemination of José Cardoso Pires.
