This chronology is the result of an internal reflection by CHAM on the cross-cutting nature of the research carried out by its thematic lines and the importance of recovering the unit's memory in order to build heritage and a resilient history. In order to encourage research and innovation and disseminate knowledge, CHAM has been locating, selecting, organising and classifying its documents, which are currently available in a physical archive at the Colégio Almada Negreiros (NOVA's Campolide Campus). As part of the project to digitise and curate CHAM's archive, we aim to make it partially accessible online soon.
Our aim is for this heritage to be enriched with the collaboration of all the members of the three0 research units that make up the current CHAM: the Centro de História da Cultura, the Instituto Oriental and the Centro de História d'Além Mar. Therefore, this timeline was conceived as a first chronological and memorialist marker of CHAM's history before it became the Center for the Humanities. Since CHAM's history is intrinsically linked to that of the NOVA FCSH, we are anticipating its 50th anniversary in 2027.
