«Frontiers of Memory: Permanencies and Disappearances within the framework of Middle Eastern Antiquity»
18:00 | NOVA FCSH - ID Building, Room 1.05 (1st Floor) | Free admission

By Isabel Almeida and Maria de Fátima Rosa

This conference intends to analyse women of the Ancient Middle East from two different perspectives. On the one side, we will focus on the female figures who overlapped the frontiers of space and time and reconstructed themselves in the collective memory of the Mediterranean (such as Semiramis or Ištar/Astarte); on the other side, we will study the female figures that although having a strong presence in Antiquity were not able to survive the test of time (such as Enheduana and Kirû).
