The commemorative evocation of the 500 years since Martin Luther posted his Ninety-Five Theses Against Indulgences on the door of the church at Wittenberg Castle, thus symbolizing the beginning of religious reform in Europe, is but a pretext for a wider debate not only around this event and its meaning, but also that of the historical process which followed. It was an event that would culminate in the redesigning of Europe’s political and religious map and, at same time, in establishing the religious structures of the overseas territories under European rule.
This iniciative is organized by the Political and Institutional Configurations with collaboration of the thematic line Europe in the Renaissance, old and new worlds.
