A hundred years ago the first number of the magazine "Orpheu" came out from printing. It was, in the words of Almada Negreiros, "the first modern cry in Portugal" and it placed a mark on the literary and cultural scene of Portugal. The international conference «100 years of Orpheu» wishes to celebrate that cry of modernity which was shouted by a group of young people leadered by Pessoa and Sá-Carneiro, to remember the circumstance of the magazine and its actors, and to enlighten its misunderstandings, as well as, to pay the earned tribute.
