Political Uses of the Past: Public Memory of Slavery and Colonialism
The call for papers is now open for the upcoming thematic issue of Práticas da História journal, a co-edition by IHC and CHAM, dedicated to the political uses of the past and the public memory of slavery and colonialism. Coordinated by guest editors Ana Lucia Araujo (Howard University, United States) and Ynaê Lopes dos Santos (Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil), this issue aims to address the debates surrounding the transatlantic slavery past and the European colonisation of Africa and the Americas, which have been shaping the global political and historiographical agenda in recent years.
