he National Library of Angola, in partnership with GIEIPC-IP – the International Group for the Study of the Colonial Periodical Press of the Portuguese Empire, is organising the International Colloquium "50 Years of Dipanda: The African Press and Democracy". The event aims to foster debate and research on the history of the press in Angola and the Portuguese-speaking African countries, exploring its cultural and political dimensions, as well as the role of the press in the intellectual construction of nations and its interactions with broader intellectual networks.
Targeted at students, researchers in the social sciences and humanities (History, Linguistics, Literature, Journalism, Sociology, and related fields), and the general public, the colloquium promotes a multidisciplinary dialogue and will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online). Presentations will be delivered by national and international researchers across various thematic panels.
