The Fernando Gil International Conference aims to honour the philosopher, as we mark 20 years since his death and begin the republication of his work by INCM.

For two days, Fernando Gil's thought will be analysed and discussed by some of his most qualified experts, from Portugal and abroad, particularly by some of those who were his students, or who were students of his students, highlighting the importance, relevance, and impact of both his work and his teaching.

Alongside the philosopher and teacher of several generations in Lisbon and Paris, the conference also intends to pay tribute to the intellectual in constant dialogue with science and the arts, author of magnificent texts on Camões, Sá de Miranda, or Júlio Pomar, as well as his decisive role with the Ministry of Science and Technology in the internationalization of the Portuguese university and research centres.
