
On 29 and 30 September, the University of the Azores will host the Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Museum Network in the city of Ponta Delgada, an initiative that brings together professionals, researchers and museum directors from across the country.
The event is organised by the Portuguese Museum Network, in partnership with the University of the Azores, through CHAM – Centre for Humanities and the Library, Archive and Museum (BAM), and is co-organised by the Azores Regional Directorate for Culture and the Carlos Machado Museum.
Under the theme ‘Museums, The Heritage that Unites Us’, the event will provide a unique forum for reflection and discussion on the challenges and opportunities currently facing the museum sector. The focus will be on issues relating to the preservation, promotion and transmission of , as well as the role of museums as key institutions in the construction of collective memory and cultural identity.
