This volume takes us on a journey through time and space, starting from the centrality of São Jorge Island, in search of written and visual memories, as well as insights into different spatial and temporal geographies. The result is an assemblage of a diverse set of statements and reflections on the reality of the island in the context of the Azores archipelago and the world. The dialogue between what was seen and recorded and what is remembered, lost and/or re-built can be addressed within institutional, political, social, economic and cultural dimensions.
