Mónica Esteves Reis is a Lecturer (Associate Professor) at Aix‑Marseille Université (DEPB‑ALLSH), where she teaches in the LLCER undergraduate and Master’s programmes, as well as in advanced DESU training, in the areas of Portuguese language and communication, cultures, arts and heritage of Portugal and the Portuguese Expansion, cultural tourism, sustainable development and the management of cultural projects. She holds the national qualification of Maîtresse de Conférences (MCF) by the CNU and is a research collaborator at CHAM – Centre for the Humanities (NOVA FCSH), while also being a member of IMAF – Institut des Mondes Africains (CNRS) and CHAIA – Centro de História de Arte e Investigação Científica (University of Évora).
She holds a PhD in History and Heritage from the University of the Algarve, a degree in Cultural Heritage, and a postgraduate diploma in Communication and Political Advising (IPPS‑ISCTE). Her research focuses on Indo‑Portuguese art and heritage, shared heritage in post‑colonial contexts, preventive conservation of religious heritage, and public policies and communication concerning cultural heritage, having coordinated international funded projects such as PHAHA – Plan for the Preservation of the Historical and Artistic Heritage of the Archdiocese of Goa.
In parallel, she has worked as Press Officer at the Portuguese Constitutional Court, an experience she now brings into her work in public humanities and heritage communication, namely in mediating between academia, institutions, and wider publics.
