NOVA RESEARCH PORTAL

Profile

Zabya is a researcher in Archaeology at CHAM, focusing on paleoclimate and the interactions between environmental change and human activity in Lusitania. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Syria and was admitted directly into the Master’s program at FCSH — Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Her Master’s research explored Fatimid material culture and was presented at international conferences, including the Ismaili Studies Conference at Leiden University and the annual meeting of the European Coin Find Network.

Her current research investigates Roman-period paleoclimate in southwest Portugal, integrating archaeological and environmental data to understand the effects of climate variability on past societies. This project continues to today, contributing to interdisciplinary approaches at the intersection of Archaeology, History, and Earth Sciences, reflecting resilience, dedication, and a commitment to advancing knowledge in climate–society studies.
