Inês Moreira Rato is an archaeologist whose research focuses on the study of textiles and leather, productive practices, and material culture in historical contexts. She is a collaborating researcher in the CHAM exploratory project “DUST - Spoils and debris in modern port cities: contributions to a marine environmental history.” She holds a BA in Archaeology from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (2024) and an MA in Archaeology from the University of Granada (2025). Her work explores the role of productive practices in shaping economies, identities, and systems of knowledge between the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern period, drawing on interdisciplinary and critical perspectives, with particular attention to the social dimensions of labour, gender, and production dynamics. She is currently developing a doctoral research proposal dedicated to the study of organic materials in Early Modern urban contexts. Her research combines the archaeological analysis of these materials with training in textile conservation, contributing to their preservation and to their recognition as fundamental sources for understanding past societies.
