Since 2016, and with the exception of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Conferences or Symposium on Maritime History and Archaeology have been held annually. These started at the University of Cádiz, and the most recent ones took place in October 2022 at the University of Magdalena (Colombia). In 2018, the NOVA University of Lisbon and the University of Cádiz organized the third edition, and will repeat the collaboration five years later, this time under the title "Seas and Oceans in Global History."
Therefore, the CHAM - Center for the Humanities of the NOVA University of Lisbon and the University of the Azores, together with the Department of Modern, Contemporary, American and Art History of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Cadiz, are pleased to announce the 7th International Symposium on Maritime History and Archaeology "Seas and Oceans in Global History," which will take place in Lisbon on October 23, 24, and 25, 2023. The event will be coordinated by both institutions and will have the collaboration of the UNESCO Chair "The Oceans Cultural Heritage" (awarded to the NOVA University of Lisbon since 2016), the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea (CEIMAR), and the Navy Museum of Lisbon.
A call for papers está aberta até 30 de Maio de 2023.
