«El curso de la razón histórica dado por Ortega en Lisboa en 1944. Antecedentes y contextualización»»
16:00 | NOVA FCSH — Block 1, Room 1.10

by Alejandro de Haro (Universidade de Castilla-La Mancha)

The interest of the Hispanic Generations Group in the Professor Alejandro de Haro's lecture is related to the structuring role of Ortegian studies for this project, namely its theory of generations and the concept of vital historical reason.

Abstract

The aim of this seminar is to debate the idea of historical reason in Ortega´s thought, its genesis and evolution, and how this idea is set out by Ortega  in the course of 1944 in Lisbon. I will pay special attention to the «anthropological turn» produced in Ortega´s thought in the twenties, when Ortega faces from an intellectual point of view the Modernity that embraced in his youth. In his young days, Ortega defended a conception of human being as a being of culture and pure reason, opposite his open and plural conception characteristic of his idea of historical and vital reason.
