With the increasing of the investigations in Modern History the gaps on the subjects of the administration and economy of the portuguese overseas dominions became patent, leading to a resumption of the researches dedicated to the institutions and agents that made the administration in portuguese America viable. Although Salvador da Bahia was the capital of the State of Brazil from its foundation until 1763, the insufficiency of works dedicated to the themes mentioned above is intriguing. This seminar, therefore, intends to discuss and highlight these aspects relevant to the history of colonial Bahia, using the port of Salvador as an intercession of new research experiences.
