Call for papers until November 21, 2016
The Conference/Workshop aims to document the effects and the impacts of the Portuguese culture and language on the world defined by the formal and informal spaces of the empire. The congress intends to examine the knowledge of the world from the Modern Age up until the 20th century, both in textual (reports, dictionaries, grammars, etc.) and non-textual (variety of languages of oral transmission) forms. By studying and analyzing the dissemination of Portuguese, both from a synchronic and a diachronic perspective, as well as the historical reconstruction of the trajectories of the expansion of the language, the congress also intends to debate in what way the study of the past may help to better interpret the present, characterized by the new dynamics of circulation of individuals and groups
