Science, Heritage and Research Strategy Meeting
National Museum of Natural History and Science

On 20 April, the Art, History and Heritage Research Group (AHP), in collaboration with the CHAM Heritage Line, and the National Museum Of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC-UL) will host an event designed to bring together three fundamental dimensions of research in the humanities and social sciences: science, heritage, and research strategy.

The Science, Heritage and Research Strategy Meeting  aim to serve not only as a moment for sharing knowledge but also, and above all, as a space for collective reflection on the theoretical and epistemological foundations underpinning contemporary research within the framework of CHAM's strategic project. The choice of the National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) as host is no coincidence: this is a place where the memory of scientific collections intersects with the most current debates on curation, mediation, and heritage management, offering a privileged setting to reflect on research practices through the materiality of knowledge. We are therefore pleased to acknowledge the prompt cooperation of MUHNAC and to extend our sincere thanks to its Director, Dr Marta Lourenço.

The programme begins with a guided tour led by the Museum's Director, Dr Marta Lourenço, offering direct engagement with the spaces and collections that make MUHNAC a national and international reference. This will be followed by an information session dedicated to European funding opportunities for research projects, at a time when securing resources and international visibility are central challenges for the scientific community. The afternoon will be devoted to reflection workshops on the theoretical and epistemological foundations of research, designed as spaces for participatory debate, where members of the research groups are invited to compare approaches and lines of research, share bibliographical references and methodological applications, to collectively strengthen the development of effective transdisciplinarity.

Participation is open to CHAM members, subject to mandatory prior registration, with limited places available. Registration must be submitted by 13 April to arte_cham@fcsh.unl.pt.

We invite all researchers to join us for a day of dialogue, exchange, and reflection, reaffirming the commitment of the Art, History and Heritage Research Group to fostering critical, collaborative, and strategically oriented research.
