Historias de Frontera. Fronteras con Historia

In this volume the frontier is analysed from a long-term perspective, between the medieval times and the contemporary period, favouring not only comparative studies in time and space, but also the perception of changes and continuities caused by the same phenomenons. In this sense, the concept of ‘frontier’ is virtually inexhaustible and the casuistry concerning this matter is almost infinite. Attempting a comprehensive approach in the same publication, notwithstanding the obvious size limitation issues, may be an interesting strategy to overcome these difficulties.

This work aims at contributing to the analysis of a concept which continuously generates a large number of studies and which still holds a degree of historiographical relevance. Its study requires analytical strategies with integrated methodologies including comparative, multidisciplinary, transnational and cross-cultural approaches that will help deepen the political, cultural and socio-economic parameters of the frontier areas. (From the ‘Introduction’)
