Products, Journeys and Artistic Consumptions constitutes the core of what was presented and discussed during the 5th Velas Colloquium, held in Velas, São Jorge Island, in July 2-4, 2015. Focusing on the disciplinary fields of art history, architectural history and urbanism, the programme addressed the subjects of artistic production, circulation and consumption in the Portuguese overseas space, over a time span broadly set in the Modern Age. Aiming at approaches that seek to highlight the notions of mobile frontiers and to reassess the ways in which relations between spaces imbued with organic centrality and their fringes and peripheries have been processed, the subject of the colloquium sought to deepen research lines related to CHAM's strategic plan, around the concepts of ‘mobility’ and ‘frontier’.
