The constructed representations of peoples result from the knowledge, interpretation and comparison of the history, culture, material life and organisation of different people in different places, starting of course with their own image of themselves that is shown to others. The vision of Africa and the African vision of the world today, in a context of globalisation and intensified flows of people, goods and ideas, particularly transnational migrations, requires a renewed understanding effort. Such is the purpose of this book, which assembles studies by several authors.
