This book compiles contributions by most of the participants in the International Conference on Modern Archaeology, held in April 2011 at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Nova University of Lisbon. The papers present results from academic or salvage contexts, relevant for the discussion of several subjects spanning the 15th to 18th centuries, both in European and colonised contexts. In addition to fostering the development of modern archaeology, the aim was to bridge archaeological communities throughout the world, namely those researching the Iberian kingdoms and their worldwide expansion.
