The research project «Underwater Archaeological Chart - Lagos Bay»’s first goal and core work follows the work developed between 2006 and 2010 for the draft of the archaeological chart of the municipality, resuming the valuation of the underwater cultural heritage. The project aims to further consolidate the problematic of maritime cultural landscapes, in accordance to what is being developed within the ProCASC: Underwater Archaeological Chart of the city of Cascais.
Goals
- Identify, characterise and enhance the scientific, cultural and educational potential of the underwater archaeological heritage in Lagos Bay;
- Contribute to the promotion and assertion of Algarve among the cultural circuits and scientific research on a global scale;
- Develop an integrated research programme of historical and archaeological sources connected to the maritime interface of the city of Lagos;
- Promote the research on ships and navigation in Algarve based on archaeological sources;
- Contribute to the promotion of the educational and cultural value while involving the community in the survey of the cultural heritage of the Lagos Bay;
- Collaborate on the implementation of measures
