Patrícia Fátima Martins de Jesus Palma holds a PhD in Portuguese Studies, specializing in Book History and Textual Criticism, from FCSH-New University of Lisbon (2016), with the thesis O Reyno das Letras. A Cultura Literária na Periferia: Algarve, 1759-1910; holds a Master's degree in Documentation and Information Sciences (2023) from FL-University of Lisbon, with a project thesis O sistema de informação do Museu de Lagos: avaliação e proposta de otimização; holds a Master's degree in Portuguese Studies – Portuguese Literature (Contemporary Period), by FCSH-New University of Lisbon (2009), with the dissertation A Produção Literária Impressa no Algarve durante os Séculos XIX e XX; and holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, specializing in Portuguese Studies, from FCHS-University of Algarve, with the dissertation Irene Lisboa: uma Poética Centrífuga.
A portuguese language teacher between 2004 and 2010, she has dedicated herself full-time to research in the area of print culture since 2011, with support from the Foundation for Science and Technology and FCSH/UNL. She is an integrated researcher in the working group "Information, Reading and Forms of Writing" at CHAM-Centre for the Humanities and an associate researcher at the Polo History, Territories and Communities at NOVA-FCSH, part of the Centre for Functional Ecology at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Coimbra. Since 2023, she has been a senior technician at the Lagos City Hall, responsible for managing the Documentation Centre of the Lagos Museum.
Patrícia de Jesus Palma develops action-research and consulting projects around themes related to the formation and circulation of literate culture in the European and transatlantic space, the history and heritage of publishing, information organization systems, and the relationships between culture and development. As scientific coordinator of the Algarve Digital Newspaper Library project, the results of her work have been presented at scientific meetings, conferences, journals, and books in the field, both nationally and internationally.
