Dominique Faria is an Associate Professor at the University of the Azores, where she directs the PhD programme in Island Literatures and Cultures and the Master’s programme in Translation and Linguistic Consultancy. She is an integrated member of CHAM – Centre for the Humanities (FCSH – NOVA University Lisbon / University of the Azores). She is Vice-President of the Portuguese Association for French Studies (APEF) and editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Carnets.
She holds a PhD in French Literature from the University of the Azores and a Master’s degree in French Literature from the University of Lisbon. Her main research areas are contemporary French literature, translation studies, and island literature.
In 2025, she published the book Îles de papier. Approche littéraire des îles dans la fiction française, 2000–2024 (Classiques Garnier), which examines representations of islands in contemporary French fiction. She was co-editor of Reframing Translators, Translators as Reframers (Routledge, 2023) and is the author of numerous articles and book chapters, as well as editor of several journal issues and collective volumes, both in national and international contexts.
