Nuno Marques is an Assistant Professor of Literary Studies at the University of the Azores (UAc) and a researcher in environmental humanities on the contributions of ecopoetics to the production of environmental knowledge. At UAc, he researches ecopoetic islands of the Anthropocene in Portuguese-language poetry and North American poetry. He is preparing the monograph Ecopoetic Breathing in Ibero-American Atmospheres (Routledge) and co-editing the volume Ecopoéticas y políticas ecológicas contemporáneas desde el Sur (Brill). He translates the poetry of Athena Farrokhzad, with Alejandro Urrutia (2022); Gary Snyder, with Margarida Vale de Gato (2017,22); John Cage (2023); Evelyn Reilly and Allison Cobb (to be published in 2026). As a poet, he has published Dia do Não, with visual work by André Alves (2018), and Estio, with visual work by Xavier Almeida (2025).
