Forbidden Images: Exile, Repression, and Censorship in Artistic Creation in the Iberian Space 20th and 21st Centuries
University of Alcalá

In April 2021, the first biennial conference "Forbidden Images: Cinema and Literature in the Iberian Space in the 20th and 21st Centuries" was held in Lisbon. Given the successful outcome of that event and with the aim of continuing to contribute to the establishment of international networks of researchers working on the phenomena of cultural repression in the Iberian space, we invite you to participate in the II Congress, which will take place in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid, Spain) on April 27-28, 2023. The initiative is organized by CEComp - Center for Comparative Studies of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, IHA - Institute of Art History, CHAM - Center for Humanities of the NOVA University of Lisbon and the University of the Azores, GILCO - Research Group in Contemporary Literature of the University of Alcalá, and GEXEL - Research Group on Literary Exile of the Department of Spanish Philology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

The second edition of the congress focuses on the impact of censorship on creators in exile, in their dissemination, reception, and critical canonization.

Panel and communication proposals should be submitted by January 31, 2023.
