This meeting aims to make a point of the contemporary Publishing situation in Ibero-America, departing from a multidisciplinary look, based on the presentation of papers by experts in this subject, stemmed from several disciplines (History, Anthropology, Literature, Cultural Studies, Publishing Studies) and four countries of this geographic area (Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Spain).
The set of papers (and further discussions) proposes to make a critical review and update of the state of the art of Publishing in the contemporary world, as well as presenting studies on Ibero-American literatures reception of (and on) the focus countries. The latter is understood as a dimension that contributes to our understanding of publishig (editorial) and reading spaces building processes.
The invited authors have in common seek to reconcile research with its dissemination to the general public and within various media. They have also intervened in the debate on public policies in the areas of reading, book and publishing, getting involved in cultural initiatives and seeking to boost national and international structures sector (within international organizations such as the Regional Centre for Book Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, sponsored by UNESCO and the Organization of Ibero-American States).
