Rock art constitutes a universal legacy and a material record that transcends geographical and temporal boundaries, uniting cultures through symbolic expressions carved into rock. This workshop, organised by CHAM – the Centre for Humanities at FCSH-NOVA, as part of the EDGES Project, aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue amongst specialists conducting research ranging from the Middle and Upper Orinoco (Colombia) to the Côa Valley (Portugal). The aim is to reflect on how rock art can serve as a key vehicle for understanding the human past and for inspiring future practices of preservation and study. The event takes an innovative approach to addressing issues such as the scale and distribution of rock art, the challenges of conservation – with a focus on the LandCRAFT project – and research and dissemination methodologies in the context of corporate archaeology. Aimed at researchers, students and the interested public, this workshop offers an opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen international collaboration networks.
