A PhD researcher hired by NOVA FCSH and an integrated PhD researcher at CHAM, the Humanities Centre, where he was a postdoctoral fellow (2015-2018), Hilarino da Luz, a native of Cape Verde, holds a PhD in Portuguese Studies, specialising in Portuguese-language Literatures and Cultures (2009-2013). He has extensive professional experience, including teaching in Portugal and Cape Verde, in the publishing sector, in librarianship and in supervising scientific work. He has participated in master's and undergraduate juries, master's scholarships and in conferences. He co-organized, was a member of and chaired the Jury of the Januário Leite Literary Prize (2021 and 2023). In 2021, with “Cartas com Ciência”, he won second place in the Go Green GO Social NOVA FCSH/ Santander Universities Prize. She was a member of the EU-funded CONCHA project and is a member of the FCT-funded WomenLit project. He has been developing collaborative work with researchers from countries such as Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique, Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and the USA. He chairs the International Conference on African, Ibero-American and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures and is co-organizer of the International Conference on Cape Verdean Literature, which aims to produce IV volumes of the Critical History of Cape Verdean Literature. She received the “Honra ao Mérito” medal from the Académie des Lettres et Arts Luso-Suisse.
