Luana Loria is an auxiliary researcher at CHAM-NOVA for the project HUMAN: Digital Hate Interrupter Activism, to combat structural racism and promote inter-community cooperation through digital technologies (CERV2023-EQUAL). She is a member of the Transcultural, Literary, and Postcolonial Studies Research Group at CHAM-NOVA. Luana is also the co-founder of Project-Livraria das Insurgentes, dedicated to promoting books written by women, trans, and non-binary authors. She holds an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Human Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil (2014–2017), where she was awarded a Erasmus Mundus Fellowship. Additionally, she earned a Master's degree in Crossways in Cultural Narratives (Erasmus Mundus Program, 2014-2017) from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal), and the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). Her areas of interest include literature, cinema, philosophy, education, history, cultural studies, gender studies, cultural geography, urban studies, post-colonial and decolonial studies, as well as Latin-American and African studies. She has a particular focus on the cultures of Portuguese-speaking countries, especially Brazil and Portugal.
