Convened in the 350th anniversary of the signing of the peace agreement between the two Iberian monarchies (Treaty of Lisbon, 1668), the international symposium “Frontiers of war and negotiation. The confrontation between Portugal and the Spanish Monarchy (1640-1668)” brings together some of the best experts on this subject and reflects the variety of the most recent scholarly perspectives about a conflict and a negotiation that marked the future of the Iberian world. The studies to be presented at this colloquium focus on four main thematic axes: war, borders, empire and peace.
