This conference aims to deepen the debate that took place during the previous encounter held in October 2014, entitled "Renaissance (s) in Portugal or Portuguese Renaissance?". Some clues on how the Renaissance movement developed in Portugal were identified, and will be used as the starting point on the concept of Renaissance and its possible chronologies. Our analysis will deal with the decoding of some specific dialogues that, over time, have developed between Portugal and different European kingdoms and cities, namely Italy, Spain, France, England and the Empires.
Focusing on a changing Europe, where frontiers were redrawn, reestablished and existent imperial models were questioned, this two days debate will be a forum to discuss different perspectives to expand our area of investigation on the Old and New Worlds. It is our aim to bring the discussion around topics such as spaces and their descriptions (cities, fields, routes, Africa, Asia and the Americas, ...), history, memory and the encounter with the wide range of patrimony, new ideas and practices, discourses (to new forms of poetry and narrative) and dissemination media (printing and engraving), and literary, visual and musical arts.
